Last night I had the opportunity to do something I haven't done in a very long time. It's been years since i've sat in front of a television attentively.
I heard on the radio that "fringe" was starting a new season and since one of the actresses shares a birthday with me (as i'm told by a friend who also shares the birthday) my interest was peaked. Amazingly enough what followed was more television viewing. After the creepy and strange nostalgia of Xfiles, I flipped the channels and found one of my favorite films as a youth playing. Ferngully!
After watching this delightful animated environmental message-full program, I couldn't help but compare it to my recent experience watching Avatar. Because of the nature of technology and the world we live in, immediately afterward, passing through channels, Avatar was there.
I was capable of watching the two back to back, and make some pretty big parallels with plot lines. It's as if the entire film was inspired by these flying fairies.
Was it?
Anyhow, my previous incarnation as a writer would allow me to delve into the details of this analysis further, but my current time saving incarnation decides to do a little google search, mainly to find links worthwhile sharing.
And there you have it.
someone who has already made the analysis, observation and declaration.
And as much as i'd be happy to join in the conversation, I really don't care enough to make another account/password, etc to share my thoughts and opinions.
So here's my pseudo approach to doing that. Here it is. Avatar vs. FernGully Similarities - Nothing New Under the Sun
